After the malware scandal around Flight Sim Labs the development team FSFX Packages promises a transparency offensive for their camera tool ChasePlane in a blog post. According to this, the limitations of the flight simulator in the camera settings required a process called “memory injection” (also: DLL injection). Code is executed in the address space of another process by loading an external DLL file. Anti-virus programs could incorrectly classify this process as malware.

FSFX Packages: No Maleware in ChasePlane

To maintain the trust of its own customers, FSFX Packages will therefore add a new section to the ChasePlane manual. This should describe which files are modified and how ChasePlane and other products of the manufacturer operate with the simulator. This transparency offensive does indeed compete with the aim of protecting the company’s own secrets from the competition. The security of the own customers must be valued however in a balance between both goals higher, writes the team FSFX Packages in the article.
