Today, the Austrian publisher of flight simulation add-ons, PILOTS, released some work-in-progress screenshots of its upcoming DHC-7 v2 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. No further details regarding a target release date are available yet, and the company is not communicating anything in that regard at all, according to the preview post here on Facebook. All that remains is to take pleasure in the fact that at least the preview screenshots shown give the impression that development is already quite advanced.

iniBuilds showcases its upcoming TriStar for FS2024 in Twitch livestream

Today, iniBuilds offered a first in-depth look at their upcoming Tristar for Microsoft Flight Simulator during a live stream on Twitch. European Community Manager Cameron guided viewers through the presentation, joined by developer Mike from the team.

The session began in a cold-and-dark cockpit before moving outside for a detailed walkaround of the aircraft. iniBuilds is modelling the Tristar Dash 5 variant—slightly shorter than its counterparts, but also the most powerful and longest-range version.

Back in the cockpit, the team demonstrated the startup procedure, highlighting the depth of the simulation. Complex systems such as the pneumatic system are fully modelled, and even features like INS drift have been implemented—though this can be disabled if desired. To balance realism with accessibility, routes including SIDs, STARs, and waypoints can be imported directly into the INS. A retrofitted GPS unit on the main panel also brings a touch of modern convenience to the classic airliner.

For those who prefer a more streamlined experience, an “analog EFB” in the form of a clipboard allows the virtual flight engineer to handle startup procedures automatically via an “Autocomplete” function.
Following the setup, the crew departed from JFK for a short test flight, showcasing the aircraft in action.

Overall, the preview suggests that iniBuilds is aiming to deliver a highly detailed yet flexible simulation, catering both to hardcore enthusiasts and more casual simmers alike. If you’re interested in classic widebodies with deep system modelling, the Tristar is definitely one to watch.

This is revealed by various preview screenshots that have recently been appearing on the developer&#039 Facebook page. According to these, the developer is currently in the process of completing the 3D model. However, these are already in-sim. There is no exact release date yet, but we will keep you posted.

By the way: Some people have probably been wanting to finally fly a DreamFoil helicopter in Microsoft Flight Simulator for quite some time. This wish could come true in the distant future, according to a comment on Facebook. In response to a question on this topic, the developer writes that he is considering it and that it is an option, but certainly not “soon.” The focus is currently on the existing X-Plane portfolio and X-Plane 12.

FSElite tests the Aersoft A330neo

FSElite gives us a first glimpse of the A330neo for Microsoft Flight Simulator today – and according to the article, it looks pretty impressive visually. But on closer inspection, it becomes clear that crucial systems are currently still missing for realistic long-haul flights or use on VATSIM & Co. A beautiful jet – but not (yet) perfect.

According to an initial hands-on report by FSElite, Aerosoft&#039 latest widebody is aimed at a broad target group. The add-on impresses with a detailed exterior model, an elaborately designed cockpit, and a modern EFB that offers all important functions such as payload, fuel, and Navigraph connectivity. Performance and sounds also make a good first impression – especially the turbine sound during spool-up, which is powerful and rich.

However, when it comes to system depth, it quickly becomes clear that the A330neo is still in an early stage of development. Essential functions such as “HOLD,” “Direct-To,” wind data input, and the data link systems (ATSU) are missing. The flight behavior under VNAV and LNAV control also seems faulty in places, for example with overly aggressive climb profiles or illogical altitude behavior. In practice, this means that the add-on is not currently ready for use for complex IFR flights or online networks such as IVAO or VATSIM.

The article makes it clear that this is a preview, not a final test. Nevertheless, it is evident that Aerosoft still has a lot of work to do to establish the A330neo not only as a visually impressive aircraft, but also as a functionally robust add-on. Those looking for a visually stunning A330 will be pleased – those expecting system depth and reliable flight physics should wait (a little longer).
